5 Bible Verses about love we need to remember

1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud

Have you ever found yourself asking the question what is love?  Well, the verse above explains it perfectly.  The characteristics listed are five key things we should represent in all relationships, not only romantic ones. Every single person on earth is blessed with the ability to love so we have no excuse to not take these factors into consideration when doing so.

Romans 12:9 (NIV)

Love must be sincere.  Hate what is evil; cling to what is good

The first four words of this Scripture are highly significant!  Ultimately, real love is a genuine act.  Picture it like this: God genuinely loves us, which is why were saved by His grace.  Dont just buy gifts because you feel obliged to buy them because you really want to.

1 Corinthians 16:14 (ESV)

Let all that you do be done in love

Imagine living in a world where everyone did everything out of love... how great would that be?  Wed all be one big family and while many of us are longing for a world full of peace and love, lets play our part in being a blessing to others.

Matthew 22:37 (NIV)

Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

This Scripture is self-explanatory: love the Lord unconditionally.  Love him more than you love that chocolate bar or love getting paid.  Put him first in EVERYTHING that you do and watch how it all miraculously falls into place.  Its that simple!

John 3:16 (NIV)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life

Last but definitely not least, this Scripture is one of the most quoted verses from the Bible and that in itself says a lot.  This verse succinctly shares Gods extent of his love for us he sacrificed his only Son!  If this isnt love, what is?

Another Valentines Day has been and gone and as always, some of us showered our loved ones with gifts. For some, this was done by purchasing flowers or a box of chocolates, and for others wed rather ignore Valentines and have a normal day. This season is always a great opportunity to turn to the Bible and find out what God tells us about love. Here are five Bible verses for you to ponder on.
